Dare to Bare | A Clothes Look

I’m so sorry I haven’t posted the last few days, finals week has really been taking a toll on my time.  Today I am here to bring you though, one of m favorite lip sets this holiday season.  Dare to Bare by Fresh. This set is $45.00 at Sephora and I believe it’s worth it!

This kit includes:

– 0.28 oz Sugar Lip Polish
– 0.16 oz Sugar Lip Serum Advanced Therapy
– 0.1 oz Sugar Shine Lip Treatment
– 0.08 oz Sugar Rosé Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15
– 0.08 oz Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment

There are two amazing products in this that to makes it worth it to me.

The item I most adore in this kit is the Sugar Lip Serum Advanced Therapy.

daretobare3

If you apply half a pump of this to your lips, your lips feel smoother, they’re more plumped (with no stinging!) and they are hydrated.  I have fallen in love with this stuff and I will repurchase once it runs out in this kit but I feel like this deluxe size sample will hold me over for a while!

The other outstanding product is the Fresh Sugar Lip Polish

daretobare4

As you might be able to tell from the photo this isn’t a dry lip polish, but it still offers an amazing scrub. Since it is a gel consistency you only need a little bit. I first tried to use it how I use my dry Lush lip scrub and realized how much I didn’t need.  I have really been liking this lip polish it flakes the dry skin away easily and smells great.

The Advanced Therapy Lip treatment is a nice moisturizing lip balm, the Sugar Rosé Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15 has a lovely tint to it while still moisturizing your lips so it’s great for those no make up make up days.  The Sugar Shine Lip Treatment is my least favorite product, it does give a nice shine to your lips and feels great on the lips and is not very sticky but it does not stay shiny for a long period of time.

Do you have a lip lover in your life that would like this set?

InnerStellar Kat Von D Palette | A Clothes Look

I have been seeing people picking up this palette for a few days now at Sephora inside JCPenney so I decided to go into mine today to see if they had it and the lovely sales associate got me one from the back.  The Kat Von D InnerStellar is on the Sephora website right now for VIB and VIB Rouge clients.  I believe if you’re not a VIB or VIB Rouge this palette will be released in January to you.

This palette is set up like the Monarch and Chrysalis palettes and it costs $46.00 and is limited edition. According to the Sephora website it is suppose to be a  ” lunar-inspired palette of cool, cosmic colors”.

I’m very excited to start using these. All of these shadows are incredibly soft and feel wonderful, I’m very happy with the pigmentation of all of these none watched patchy for me.

Do you think you will buy it?

Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot & Depotting | A Clothes Look

sweetcheeky1

Benefit Sweet Cheek set, is no longer available online at Sephora that I can find but it is still available in store. I wanted to show you today how to depot them into a little less bulky packaging because it is a great deal, but the packaging can be a little much.

cheekyinside

This includes 6 blushes (not full size) which are: Dandelion, Bella Bamba, Sugarbomb, Hoola, CORALista, Rockateur and  a small Watt’s up and a brush.

These do not swatch well at all for me, but they do apply very nicely to the face!

cheekyswatches

So what do you need to depot this? You need a Z palette, and a small spatula of some sort. The Sephora Z palette comes with one that works well

depot0

depot1

The powder are inserted into black foam.  I pried up the foam a little bit as you can see in the photo above. Once you have it up and you can see the line where the two pieces of foam meet wedge in your spatula tool and begin pulling.

depot2

The Watt’s Up highlighter you can just pick up but the powders are glued on.

depot3

Now that the powders are exposed I found the best way to get them off is to grab them and twist them off counter clockwise.

depot4

Now just continue until all six powders are off.  There is a bit of glue residue on the back of it, if this bothers you, you can remove it with rubbing alcohol or acetone. If it doesn’t bother you place them in your z palette.  The magnets in the Sephora Z palette held it wonderfully without having to add any extra magnets to the back of the powder.

If you want to depot your highlighter, once you remove it, you will be able to wedge the spatula in-between the pan and the plastic around it.

depot5

Just apply a little pressure and pop it up, then you can add that as well to your Z-Palette.

Kat Von D Holiday Star Studded Palette | A Clothes Look

Hey everyone! I’m sorry I have been gone for a while. I’m still trying to find a balance between school, work and my blog.  I tend to be able to post more on my Instagram than here so please follow @aclotheslook.

This is my favorite time of year for palettes and sets so I wanted to start this years post with the second edition of my favorite holiday palette from last year the Kat Von D eyeshadow book.  They raised their game this year with the packaging, they added a mirror, it is still a thick cardboard, with raised ‘studs’ on the front.  It holds 24 shadows and this year they are separated into quads. It still has a thin piece of plastic overlay attached, which I still do not love.

Kat Von d Star Studded Palette

Kat Von D Holiday

As you can see the quads are in rectangles and laid out for you.

Starting with the left two columns, I will be doing the swatches by quads.

First quad:

Solar, Nephilim, Platonic, Mandala

Kat Von D Studded Star Palette Swatches 1

Second quad:

Anti-Star, Estrella, Black Star, Starflyer

Star Studded Swatches 2

Third quad:

Moz, Heaven Knows, Smiths, Leather

Star Studded Swatches 3

Now onto the right two columns.

Fourth quad:

Damned, Division, Depeche, Brass Knuckles

Kat Von D Star Studded Swatches 4

Fifth quad:

Banshee, Violator, Gothica, Fascination Street

kat von d star studded quad 5

Sixth quad:

Crosses, Covenant, Craft, Cult

All except two shadows are extremely soft.  Gothica hands down is the worst shade in this palette the pigmentation, texture everything.  It looks like a beautiful color in the pan but is awful.  The other shadow that might need some work is Craft, it is just kind of chunky.

None of these colors are in the previous holiday eyeshadow book, it does not state whether these shades are limited edition or if they’ve been in other palettes. The eyeshadows are smooth and pigmented, I’m excited to create many looks with it.  I know they put them in quads but you can mix and match. I only wish that there were not so many light white/cream colors in the palette while they are all different they are very similar.

This retails for $55 at Sephora, and don’t forget to use eBates to get money back!

Do you think you will buy this?

Kat Von D Studded Lipsticks | A Clothes Look

Today I am showing you five lipsticks that I bought from the newly released Kat Von D Studded Lipsticks. A few of these lipsticks are colors from her previous collection but they vamped up the packaging and reformulated the lipstick.

With the re-vamp, the price of the lipsticks went from $19 to $21 a piece, Kat Von D is exclusive to Sephora.  The box is a shiny black, with a raised texture of studs.

katvondbox

katvondstuddedlipstickcase

The case is a gorgeous black, studded case that feels very sturdy in your hand.

I will say you might want to swatch in store before buying because the formulas are across the board.

Coven, a light lavender color, is probably the most wanted Kat Von D lipstick, it was the first to sell out.

covenkatvond1

covenkatvond2

covenlipswatch

Coven applies patchy and is a bit drying. The best way I found to apply it to get the intensity above without a lipliner is to blot in between layers of lipstick.  This is about three layers.

Poe, a dark navy with sparkle, has been blowing up on Instagram.

poekatvond1

poekatvond2

This is a gorgeous color but needs a lipliner! It slides around on my lips and it is a little grainy because of the sparkle.

Lovecraft, a mauve-rose nude.

lovecraftkatvond1

This color is a beautiful, your lips but better nude. It applies smooth and fully opaque in one coat. I highly suggest this color.

A-Go-Go, a bright neon orange.

This color also applies smoothly and opaquely on the lips with no problem.

L’ECole Des Femmes is a bright coral color.

This is a great color for Summer, it is smooth and comfortable to wear and opaque.

I have a few other colors on my list but I decided to wait until I can swatch them in person to see the consistency of the product.  Have you picked any up? Will you?
